(***English below)

For over 6 weeks, hundreds of thousands of students are on an unlimited general strike against tuition fee hikes. We recognise that this decision has been made in a broader context of privatisation and commodification of public services and attacks on women’s well-being. CLASSE student associations have resolved to broaden and go beyond the student movement, calling for a “A quebecois spring”.

The CLASSE has decided to organise a large public assembly on Monday April 9th, so as to bring together civil society organisations that are opposed to Jean Charest’s neoliberal projects. On April 9th, at Émilie-Gamelin Square, CLASSE is organising a large public assembly so as to provide an opportunity for thousands of people to participate in a historic event of popular-education, artistic creativity and politicization. Occupons Montreal will be among those assembled for this popular assembly, to support spaces for civic dialogue, spaces for creativity and for engaging with radical joy: spring is coming, let’s find each other!

Members of Occupy Montreal will be on hand to speak of the spring actions in Quebec in the context of a Global Spring solidarity movement, as well as support and participate in many of our allies’ actions. Join us!
