Occupy Montreal spawned several working groups. Which one has contributed the most to the Quebec student movement? OM99% Media.
Starting off in the winter as group of photographer and cameramen and camerawomen, they have generated hundreds of thousands of views with their coverage of the Maple Spring. If you are a striking student in Quebec, you most definitely have seen at least one of their videos posted on a friend’s Facebook wall.
In this video, you will see how the OM99% Media team, identifiable by protestors and police alike by their press pass, have been heavily involved in CUTV’s livestream of the protests, which has proven to be an invaluable news source since mainstream media doesn’t always stick around to document police brutality.
Do independent journalists deserve to be beaten and pepper sprayed due to their support of the student movement? Watch this video and decide for yourself.
Also, CUTV is in need of donations, since their livestream coverage of protests is quite expensive. Donate here.
OM99% Media is also in need of donations!!
We can get better equipment and replace that which has been damaged my the police!
